A great event took place in Torre Guaceto on October 27th 2022. It was important because of the involvement of young people and an opportunity to raise a more attentive generation closer to Nature, aware of territory preservation’s positive effects.
This was the core of the third event of CASCADE Project “YOU ARE WHAT YOU SEA”, a workshop excursion that involved the students of both “Antonio Galateo” and “Ascanio Grandi” 1st Grade Secondary Schools in discovering the Torre Guaceto Reserve, a great heritage for every one of us.
Walking through the different habitats, having a snack under the holm oak wood, and taking part in the biodiversity workshop have been all moments during an educational pathway aiming to be both transmissive and transformational, capable of raising awareness and change.
Later, during the SeaLab, Dr. Franca Sangiorgio of the University of Salento guided the students in deepening their understanding of scientific aspects related to our planet’s marine and coastal areas, environmental vulnerability and fragmentation, and ecosystems.
The event was realized by the Apulia Region in the framework of the CASCADE project – “CoAStal and marine waters integrated monitoring systems for ecosystems proteCtion AnD management” financed by the Interreg V-A Italy-Croatia Cooperation Programme 2014-2020.
